this is a Masonic ceremonial letter opener, made in the form of a miniature sword/dagger. This is a piece from Collegeville Pennsylvania. They were celebrating their centennial in 1957.
The front medallion gives it away: the Masonic square and compasses with the “G”, surrounded by “Warren Lodge No. 310” and the dates “1857–1957.” So this was produced as a 100th-anniversary/centennial commemorative piece for Warren Lodge No. 310.
The reverse has the Great Seal–style American eagle, which fits the mid-century commemorative/fraternal souvenir treatment.
The picture of the man is a picture of my grandfather who was one of the first Masons in the Greater Antilles in the late 1800s. That photo is A BACKDROP AND NOT INCLUDED.

This one is in rather good condition. It appears to be made with some type of metal alloy.
