Original vintage celluloid pinback button from a Kiddies’ Matinee Club at a Tivoli Theatre. Children wore numbered membership buttons like this to Saturday movie matinees in the 1920s and 1930s. The face reads “KIDDIES’ Matinee Club / TIVOLI Theatre” in black on a golden tan background, with a red stamped member number “891” in the center. The back still has its original paper insert marked “Phila. Badge Co., Phila. Pa. Badges, Buttons, Emblems,” and the original spring steel pin.
Several theaters across the country used the Tivoli name, and this button does not name its city, so it is offered without a location. It is a great piece for collectors of movie theater history, children’s club pins, Philadelphia Badge Co. buttons and early 20th century advertising.
