Vintage 1930s–1940s Hand Appliqué Floral Bouquet Quilt Top – 65 x 84 Inches
Beautiful vintage handmade floral bouquet quilt top, believed to date from the 1930s–1940s.
This lovely old quilt top features 12 individually hand-appliquéd floral bouquets arranged in three columns and four rows. Each bouquet is made from an assortment of colorful vintage cotton prints, including soft pinks, purples, blues, yellows, and greens.
The flowers feature layered fabric petals, hand-stitched details, and decorative fabric bows. A coordinating floral appliqué border runs along the outer edges.
The fabrics have the charming appearance of Depression-era and feedsack-era cotton prints, although their exact origins have not been verified.
CONDITION
This is an original vintage unfinished quilt top that has never been completed or used as a finished quilt.
There is noticeable age-related staining, yellowing, and discoloration throughout, including some darker spots and areas of uneven coloration. Please examine the photographs carefully, as they are an important part of the condition description.
The quilt top is being sold as found from a local estate here in Florida with no cleaning, restoration, or stain treatment attempted.
A wonderful textile for collectors of vintage quilts, traditional hand appliqué, antique needlework, and Depression-era fabrics. It could be preserved as a historic textile, displayed, or carefully completed by an experienced quilter.
