Striking vintage Geo. I. Trevino figural sculpture, dating approximately to the 1930s–1940s. This distinctive piece depicts an African woman with an intricately textured braided hairstyle, large hoop earrings and stacked neck rings, topped with a contrasting brass vessel.
The sculpture stands approximately 6¼–6½ inches tall and is constructed of dark-finished cast metal with brass-toned accents and vessel. The back bears the Geo. I. Trevino maker/artist mark.
Pieces of this form have been variously described as cigarette holders, decorative vessels, head vases and figural sculptures. Today it makes a wonderful display piece for a collection of vintage decorative arts, Art Deco–era objects, or eclectic interiors.
Condition: Vintage pre-owned condition with age-appropriate patina, oxidation, surface wear and discoloration, particularly to the brass vessel. Please review all photographs closely, as they are part of the condition description. I have left the original aged patina intact rather than polishing the piece.
