Check out this wonderful pair of vintage, mid-century Disney collectible pulp books published by Whitman Publishing Company in Racine, Wisconsin. This lot includes two classic Mickey Mouse mysteries featuring alternating text pages and full-page black-and-white comic illustrations.
Book 1: Mickey Mouse: Bell Boy Detective (1945)
• Issue Number: #1483
• Condition Grade: Very Good (VG)
• Details: This copy is in exceptional shape for its age. The front cover art is crisp and vibrant. The spine is highly impressive—completely intact with brilliant red coloring and no splitting along the hinges. The interior title page is clean and free of owner markings or stamps. The external closed page edges show standard 1940s age-toning and some moderate brown foxing spots, but the binding remains tight and uniform.
Book 2: Mickey Mouse and the Lazy Daisy Mystery (1947)
• Issue Number: #1433
• Condition Grade: Fair to Good (G)
• Details: A very presentable Western-themed copy with vibrant front cover art. This book shows more honest shelf wear than the first volume. The spine has significant fraying, chipping, and paper separation at the top spine cap, though it remains attached to the binding. The external page edges show heavy browning and dark age-toning typical of high-acid post-war paper. The interior title page is surprisingly clean, unwritten on, and intact.
