Vintage Belgian Air Force pilot cap badge in the 1946 pattern.
Three-piece construction mounted separately to black felt:
* Royal crown
* Winged Belgian lion shield
* Lower laurel leaves
Silver-tone crown, wings and leaves with gilt lion detail over a dark enamel-style shield. Reverse retains multiple brass-colored wire prongs securing the individual components.
This design was introduced after the Belgian Air Force became an independent service in 1946, replacing the earlier royal-cypher-centered pilot insignia with the Belgian rampant lion.
Listed as 1946 Pattern, not as guaranteed 1946 manufacture, since the exact production date cannot be confirmed from the badge alone.
