3AAlthough the markings differ slightly, the cups are extremely close in color, shape and construction and were clearly designed to coordinate. Examples of this vintage Chicago-made dinnerware are known with both Melmac-branded and “Chicago 54” markings, sometimes appearing together in surviving sets.Melmac was one of the quintessential materials of the postwar American kitchen. Made from durable melamine resin, colorful Melmac dinnerware became enormously popular during the 1940s through 1960s as a lightweight, virtually unbreakable alternative to traditional china. Today its saturated colors and streamlined shapes make it especially collectible among fans of 1950s and Mid-Century Modern design.These cups are a particularly fun rose/raspberry pink with simple geometric handles and a classic streamlined MCM profile.Set includes:
