Rare Vintage 1960s Lyman Turnpike Toll Gun – Mechanical Coin Shooter Pistol
Up for sale is a fantastic piece of 1960s roadside history: an authentic, original Turnpike Toll Gun. Invented during the golden age of American highway travel, this spring-loaded novelty mechanical pistol was designed to accurately launch quarters or tokens straight into turnpike booth baskets so drivers wouldn't miss!
This heavy-duty mechanical gadget features a cast metal body, a bottom-loading magazine handle for holding a stack of coins, a classic black tracking ball plunger, and a smooth spring mechanism trigger.
Features & Details:
• Era: Mid-1960s original roadside automobilia collectible.
• How It Works: Coins load into the vertical handle magazine grip. Pull back the rear plunger knob to cock the spring, lock it into place, and press the metal thumb-trigger to fire the coin forward out of the top guide track.
• Quality Construction: Unrestored, dense cast-metal frame with its iconic industrial textured gray crinkle/hammered finish.
Condition:
Excellent vintage aesthetic and mechanical condition! The spring plunger mechanisms compress nicely, lock tightly, and fire smoothly when the trigger is released. The original textured gray finish looks phenomenal, showing only minor age-appropriate handling wear and micro-scuffs.
