Vintage 1960s Norwegian Troll Hand Carved Wood Norway Folk Art 7.5”
Wonderful vintage Norwegian hand-carved and hand-painted wooden troll figurine, dating approximately to the 1960s.
This whimsical Scandinavian folk-art figure has a wonderful expressive face with a large carved nose, single visible green eye, pointed ears and long textured hair covering much of his body. His arms are positioned with his hands behind his head, giving him an especially unusual and humorous pose.
The figure has been individually carved from wood and hand painted in earthy shades of green, brown, gold, pink and burgundy. The carving retains plenty of visible tool work and texture, particularly throughout the hair and body.
The underside of the wooden base is stamped:
“Carved by hand in Norway”
Measures approximately 7 1/2 inches tall x 3.81”inches wide.
Condition
Very good vintage condition with age-appropriate variations and wear to the hand-painted finish. I do not see any obvious major chips, breaks or repairs in your photographs. Because this is a hand-carved vintage piece, irregularities in the wood, carving and painted surface are part of its character. Please see all photographs for condition and details.
