Vintage 1970s monochrome gold shag area rug measuring approximately 44” x 72”, with a deep, even pile and long tassel fringe at both ends. The single-color palette gives the surface subtle tonal variation while keeping the overall look warm, clean, and distinctly of the period.

The scale, condition, and restraint. Large vintage shag rugs are increasingly difficult to find with their pile and fringe so well preserved, and this one appears unused or exceptionally lightly used. The monochrome gold makes it easier to place than many heavily patterned rugs from the era.

CONDITION
Appears unused or exceptionally lightly used, with a full, even pile and well-preserved tassel fringe. The reverse shows age- and storage-related watermarks/discoloration and visible aging to the backing. These issues are primarily confined to the reverse; the front presents very well. Please review the photos closely—they’re the best guide to the rug and its condition.
The generous size, preserved fringe, and rich monochrome gold make this an unusually strong surviving example of 1970s shag décor.
