Vintage 1970s Japanese Doll in Case-Yamanami Workshop Inabu Gifu-13\" Red Kimono:
$145.00

Vintage Japanese display doll from the Yamanami workshop in Inabu (Gifu Prefecture), dating to the 1970s. This doll was originally purchased in Japan and brought home by a U.S. service member stationed in Okinawa.

The doll stands approximately 13 inches tall inside its original acrylic display case. She is dressed in a bright red kimono with blue and silver floral patterns, and her hair is styled in a traditional updo with a single gold hairpin.

The original wooden maker’s plaque is included and marked “Inabu (Gifu) – Yamanami,” identifying the regional workshop.

Condition:

– Doll is in excellent condition with no damage to the face or kimono.

– Case is clear and intact with decorative gold trim. (small split on bottom left corner - see photo)

– Colors remain vibrant.

A well‑preserved example of a mid‑Showa era regional craftsmanship of a Japanese display doll. Suitable for collectors of Japanese cultural art, vintage dolls, or military‑era souvenirs.

This doll was a gift to my aunt from her brother-in-law who was stationed in Okinawa in the early 1970s. She attests to the fact that this doll was never removed from the case nor was the cover ever removed for display. It was kept away from direct light and dust as can be seen in the beautiful, vibrant kimono fabric color. The tape that held the case shut is original and brittle. For packing purposes, I have used small pieces of Scotch tape to keep case in place.
