Vintage 2-blade medium serpentine pen pocket knife manufactured by the historic W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery Co. in Bradford, Pennsylvania. The primary clip blade tang displays the traditional "CASE XX / USA" hallmark with four dots underneath, which dates its production precisely to 1976 [On Sat, October 10, 2026 @ 08:44 AM]. The reverse secondary tang is cleanly stamped with the official factory pattern number 03244.
The knife features classic smooth yellow synthetic composition handle scales housing a flush-fit nickel silver oval Case shield on the display side. Based on the official 03244 design specifications, the handle frame measures exactly 3 1/4 inches in closed length. It houses two opposing folding high-carbon steel implements: a master clip point blade and a secondary pen blade.
The item is in solid, highly functional condition and could use a basic cosmetic cleaning to lift surface storage oxidation. The yellow handles show typical pocket-wear scuffs and handling marks consistent with its age, but remain tight to the brass liners and free of cracks. Both steel blades remain full and thick, showing an honest, uncleaned dark gray age patina with prominent sharpening scratches, pocket tarnish, and notable spots of brown surface rust freckling that will respond well to basic conservation oil. Mechanically, this piece is exceptional, operating with very good spring tension and a loud, positive mechanical snap upon opening and closing [Tue, October 20, 2026 @ 04:43 PM]. Solid brass liners, pins, and rounded nickel silver dual bolsters remain completely tight and stable.
