Here is a vintage, 1980s, MAG-NIF plastic puzzle/maze coin sorter. This does work (see video). You will see that it does stick mainly on nickels and dimes. It just needs to be used more or you add a drop of oil on the pivot points. My point of the video was to show that the coins go into the correct colums. Please see pics for more details.
