Beautiful and highly detailed vintage Peruvian folk-art ceramic church, believed to be in the traditional Quinua/Ayacucho style.
This charming hand-painted piece features a red-and-white church building with an elaborate tiled roof, a prominent tower/figure, and numerous individually modeled figures gathered around the building. The sculpture has wonderful primitive, handmade character, with intentionally rustic modeling and hand-painted details throughout.
The underside/back still retains its original “MADE IN PERU” sticker and original $6.99 price sticker dated 03/22/94, providing a great snapshot of its 1990s tourist-market history.
