Offered is an authentic example of New England maritime folk art: a handwoven micro-miniature Nantucket lightship basket crafted and dated in 1992 by recognized regional artisan Henry Huyser. Highly regarded by Cape and Island collectors, Huyser was celebrated for his immense dexterity and mastery of fine, small-scale weaving. This collector's piece is crafted on a true micro-scale, measuring less than one inch in diameter—perfectly sized so that a U.S. dime fits cleanly inside the basket's rim opening. It features a rigid, fixed upright wooden handle securely pinned to the rim wrap with small metal rivets. This piece serves beautifully as a standalone showcase miniature, a dollhouse accessory, or the core center piece of a nested stacking set.The basket features a turned wooden base disc, tightly spaced vertical staves, and even, consistent cane weaving rows. The smooth interior wooden bottom is hand-signed and dated in fluid cursive ink by the weaver: "Henry Huyser 92."CONDITION REPORT:
Excellent, well-preserved vintage condition. A close physical inspection reveals no structural flaws, damage, or breaks to the natural cane weavers or staves. The rim wrap remains flush and tightly bound, the handle assembly is sturdy and securely pinned, and the wooden bottom discs are completely intact. The basket displays a clean, uniform honey-oak patina consistent with its 1992 origin. Please review the high-resolution macro photos for exact condition details.SHIPPING & HANDLING:
