Vintage 1994 Robert Lee Morris Batman Candle Dish Wilton Armetale DC Comics Rare: $98.99
Up for sale is a remarkably rare piece of mid-1990s pop-culture design history: the officially licensed 1994 DC Comics Batman Candle Dish (Catalog No. 000622). This striking collectible represents an exclusive, sophisticated three-way collaboration between award-winning American jewelry designer and sculptor Robert Lee Morris, the historic Pennsylvania foundry Wilton Armetale, and DC Comics. Expertly crafted from Armetale’s proprietary sand-cast aluminum alloy, this sculptural piece captures the heavy, substantial weight and timeless luster of antique pewter without any of the vulnerabilities to tarnishing, pitting, or rusting. It serves as a stunning, high-art representation of the Dark Knight, appealing equally to high-end design connoisseurs and completionist comic book collectors alike. The innovative, modular design consists of a two-piece construction where the abstract, aerodynamic Bat-symbol completely separates from the base dish. The bat element features a tapered lower peg that slots securely into a precision-drilled hole on the rim of the dish, rising up to form a dramatic, gothic backdrop for a pillar or votive candle. On the underside of the base, a crisp, deeply struck casting hallmark reads: "Robert Lee Morris / TM & © 1994 / D.C. Comics / By Wilton Armetale," instantly verifying its vintage authenticity. For added utility, the bottom of the dish is engineered with three integrated, raised feet that slightly elevate the heavy metal sculpture to protect your tabletops and mantels from scratches. In the interest of full transparency, please note that this item is being sold "loose" and is incomplete as it does not include its original 1994 retail box or accompanying documentation. Despite the lack of packaging, the physical item itself is structurally sound and remains in very good vintage condition, completely free of cracks, warping, or severe gouges. The original matte sand-cast texture is beautifully preserved throughout the body. The only notable wear is standard mechanical scratching and superficial friction marking located on the lower stem peg and inside the receiving slot—a completely normal byproduct of metal-on-metal assembly that remains entirely hidden from view whenever the piece is assembled and displayed. This is a fantastic, functionally complete example of an elusive 90s artifact that is ready to instantly elevate any Batman collection.
