This is a Hindu God Lord Shiva Statue seated in a lotus position with his right hand in Abhaya Mudra. He has a smiling face, topknot, and third eye on his forehead - and he wears the necklace of the serpent (Vasuki) around his neck. At his right side his attributes - a Trishula (Trident) a weapon symbolizing his power over creation. and a Damaru (small drum) representing the rhythm of the Universe. He sits on a tiger skin on a rounded pedestal. It is hollow and may have had a prayer/blessing scroll sealed in this area at one time.
Lord Shiva is known as the "Destroyer" of the Hindu trinity which also includes the Gods Brahma and Vishnu. He is also known as Adiyogi (the first Yogi) and is regarded as the patron God of Yoga, Meditation and the Arts. Abhaya Mudra with the palm facing outward symbolizes Fearlessness and Protection.The Hand raised is an indication of proposing friendship and peace.
