Scarce vintage APEX Wall Size one-pound box manufactured by The Cleveland Cleaner and Paste Co., Cleveland, Ohio, established in 1888.
The front features a wonderful early advertising design with a bulldog mascot, deep green background and red-and-gold lettering. The package contains printed directions for preparing painted, varnished or plastered walls before applying paint, enamel, wallpaper, burlap or kalsomine.
A terrific piece of original Cleveland advertising and decorating history. It would display beautifully in a collection of antique advertising, hardware-store memorabilia, early household products, bulldog collectibles or Cleveland-area ephemera.
The box shows authentic age-related wear, including rubbing along the edges and corners, small surface losses, creasing and general discoloration. The graphics remain strong and highly presentable. Both end panels are intact.
