This beautifully made solid Amboyna wood box might was probably intended for cigarettes. It is made throughout out 3/8\" solid Amboyna burl. The tight fitting (non-hinged) top has a fascinating pattern of bird\'s eye and three-dimensional figuring. The upper and lower sides are matched so the burl configuration is continuous. the box is 5 1/2\" x 3 1/2\" x 1 5/8\". It has a nice lustrous finish. I think it may have been made in France c. 1940-50. Stock nu8mber SA2E-117
