Vintage Brazilian-style Figa hand sculpture / good luck charm, hand carved from solid dark wood and decorated with ornate brass accents.
Features individually applied brass fingernails, rings and wrist jewelry, along with an embossed brass decorative base. The traditional Figa hand gesture has long been associated with good luck and protection and makes this an unusual piece of folk art or cultural décor.
This piece shows considerable age and character with scratches, surface wear, brass patina and oxidation consistent with its vintage appearance.
Condition note: The base originally appears to have had three brass feet for standing/display. One foot is missing and the two remaining feet are bent, so the sculpture does not stand properly on its own. There is additional wear and deformation to the brass around the base. Nothing has been polished or restored.
No maker\'s mark or country-of-origin marking has been found, so exact age and origin are unknown.
