Vintage Chalkware Big Eyes Hound Dog Bank 12\" Tall Prob Orig 40\'sCarnival Prize For Sale

Absolutely adorable piece of American History.Slightly upgraded from the original design. Rare to find chalkware in such good shape, because even though it\'s so heavy & solid, it\'s actually very delicate, and breaks easily.
History Lesson (sort of) & Commentary:Chalkware carnival prizes were a thing all the way back around 1910, and they remained popular at fairs & carnivals for decades, before plastic toys & stuffed animals took their place on shelves, desktops, and other spaces around the late 50\'s & early 60\'s.Chalkware was super popular in home decoration too, with the Miller Studio absolutely swamping the market with cheap wall hangings & figurines which were much more affordable than porcelain or carved wood....Chalkware became known as \"Poor man\'s porcelain\",However you look at it, the creative energy behind chalkware remains unique. Many of the Chalkware pieces from the 1940s, 50\'s & 60\'s possess a whimsical nature & a charming humor that\'s not found in other decorative media. It is what makes pieces like this still so beloved & sought after today.
