Original vintage employee/work apron from Charles Brothers Supermarket of Tunkhannock, Pennsylvania, a longtime independently operated grocery store in northeastern Pennsylvania.
The apron is bright orange with contrasting black trim and “Charles Bros. Supermarket” embroidered in black script across the chest. It has a large front utility pocket and adjustable side tabs with metal snap/grommet hardware.
The original garment tag identifies the fabric as 65% polyester / 35% cotton and includes machine-washing care instructions. No size is indicated.
Historical references indicate brothers Charles and Sam Charles operated Charles Brothers Supermarket in Tunkhannock beginning in 1947, with the family grocery business remaining in operation for approximately 50 years. The exact age of this particular apron is unknown.

Condition: Pre-owned vintage condition showing genuine occupational use. There are scattered stains, small spots, marks and areas of discoloration throughout. The back has a noticeable light/whitish discolored area toward the bottom as well as several darker marks. Some additional minor wear and soiling may be present.
Unlike the other Charles Bros. apron I have available, this example does not appear to have the significant pocket-area holes/tears seen on that apron.
The black embroidered Charles Bros. Supermarket logo remains attractive and clearly legible, and the black edge trim and side adjustment hardware are intact.
