Rare Complete Set of Twelve Hand-Carved Chinese Erotic “Spring Palace” Bone PanelsOffered is a fascinating and unusually complete set of 12 matching hand-carved curved panels, each beautifully engraved with a different traditional Chinese erotic (“Spring Palace”) scene set among gardens, pavilions, bamboo, and landscape motifs. Each panel is individually hand engraved with exceptional detail, including expressive figures, intricate foliage, and architectural elements. The engraving quality is noticeably finer than many common tourist carvings. The panels are gently curved and appear to have originally formed or covered a cylindrical object, although I have not been able to identify their exact original purpose. Possibilities suggested by collectors include a decorative sleeve for a scroll or brush holder, a puzzle cylinder, opium container, or another scholar’s object.Details* Quantity: 12 matching panels
