Vintage Chinese Hand Carved Rosewood (or Boxwood) Mu Wang Horse Glass Eyes 3.5\" For Sale

Attractive vintage hand-carved wooden horse figurine featuring a dramatic running/galloping pose with flowing carved mane and tail.

The horse is mounted on an integral carved base resembling rocky terrain and measures approximately 3.5\" long x 2.5\" tall.

A particularly nice detail is the pair of inset glass or glass-like eyes, which have a greenish center and give the carving considerably more character. Similar Chinese carved horse figurines with inset glass eyes are commonly associated with the Eight Horses of Mu Wang / King Mu tradition.

The piece is carved from a dense, dark reddish-brown hardwood. Similar examples are sometimes described as rosewood, or boxwood although the exact wood species has not been independently verified.

The underside shows visible wood grain and hand-tool/carving marks. There are no maker\'s marks, labels, signatures, or country-of-origin markings that I can find.

Approximate Measurements:

• Length: 3.5\"
• Height: 2.5\"

Condition:
Good vintage condition with normal age-related surface wear. Both inset eyes appear to be present and well attached. Please examine all photographs closely, as they are an important part of the description and show the exact item you will receive.

A nice small display piece for collectors of vintage Chinese carvings, horse figurines, Asian decorative arts, or equestrian collectibles.
