Vintage Chinese Mother of Pearl Inlay Lacquer Wall Plaques — Set of 4
Beautiful matched set of four vintage Chinese decorative wall panels featuring elaborate figural and landscape scenes rendered in iridescent shell-style inlay against a deep reddish-brown lacquered ground.
One panel features the traditional Chinese Fu Lu Shou (福禄寿) characters representing blessings/good fortune, prosperity and longevity. The companion panels depict robed figures, children, deer, birds, flowering trees, mountains and other traditional auspicious imagery.
The amount of detail is fantastic—the shell catches pink, blue, green and silver depending on the light, while painted gold, rust and green landscape details give the dark lacquer backgrounds unusual depth. Inlaid borders and floral corner medallions finish each panel.
Each plaque has an individual hanging loop on the reverse, so the four can be arranged together or separately.
