A substantial collection of vintage lettering stencils made from thin sheet copper, originally belonging to my grandmother, who was a skilled artist and illustrator. They were in use during approximately the 1930sā1950s and may be earlier.
The collection includes alphabet letters, numerals, punctuation/symbols and decorative motifs, as shown in the photographs.
These are genuine working stencils rather than modern reproductions. They retain visible ink/paint residue, oxidation, patination and other marks from historic use. I have deliberately not cleaned or polished them, preserving their original surface character.
Material: Thin sheet copper
Period: Vintage; known family use c.1930sā1950s, possibly earlier
Condition: Used vintage condition with oxidation, staining, ink/paint residue, wear and surface marks consistent with age and working use.
An unusual collection of traditional lettering equipment with lovely visual character, suitable for collectors of sign-writing, printing, typography, graphic design and vintage trade tools, as well as display or prop use.
Please study all photographs carefully as they form part of the description. Everything shown is included.
