Charming vintage Currier & Ives decorative wall plaque featuring the classic winter scene “Winter in the Country – The Old Grist Mill.” The detailed rural image depicts a snow-covered mill and farmstead, bare trees, livestock, a flowing stream, and a peaceful winter landscape.
The scene is reproduced on a glossy white ceramic or porcelain insert and surrounded by a substantial gold-tone metal frame. A built-in metal hanging loop on the reverse makes it ready for wall display.
The original “Winter in the Country – The Old Grist Mill” image was published by Currier & Ives in 1864 after a painting by American artist George Henry Durrie, whose rural winter landscapes became some of the firm\'s best-known imagery.
This vintage decorative version has a wonderful traditional Americana look and would work especially well with farmhouse, country, colonial, winter, or Christmas décor.
