**Antique Erhard & Söhne Neo-Gothic Gilt Brass/Bronze Musical Jewelry Casket** NO KEY FOR LOCKING.
Up for sale is a beautiful, authentic turn-of-the-century German Neo-Gothic jewelry casket produced by the renowned metalwork firm Erhard & Söhne (Schwäbisch Gmünd, Germany), circa 1900.
This heavy, high-quality chest features intricate bas-relief panels depicting medieval/religious scenes set within elaborate architectural Gothic arches. The exterior retains its brilliant original gold-gilt finish, giving it a beautiful, regal luster.
**Key Features & Authentication:**
* **Maker's Mark:** Stamped clearly on the underside with the original vertical rectangular Erhard & Söhne maker's mark directly beneath the "GERMANY" stamp (see photos).
* **Musical Movement:** DOES NOT CURRENTLY WORK AS INTENDED - Needs some work - no guarantee that it can be repaired to its intended original function. Features an authentic imported mechanical music box mechanism inside the wood lining, stamped "Swiss".
I’m unsure if it’s brass or bronze.
* **Winding Key:** The original winding key/t-bar is present on the underside.
**Condition Details (Please Read):**
* **Exterior:** Great antique condition with minor surface wear consistent with age. Beautiful patina.
No cracks or major dents to the metalwork.
* **Interior:** The wooden structural interior is intact. Has some imperfections.
* **Mechanical Status:** The winding key is present; however, the music mechanism is currently NOT playing/working. It feels tight when turned as if it cannot be fully turned.
