A wonderful piece of Frederick, Maryland industrial history!
This vintage cast iron duck was produced as an advertising or promotional piece for Frederick Castings of Frederick, Maryland. The duck features raised lettering reading "FREDERICK" on one side and "CASTINGS" on the other, with additional foundry identification molded into the interior.
Finished in black with red painted accents around the beak, back opening, and tail, this charming little duck has a rustic, primitive appearance. The naturally aged paint, surface wear, and exposed iron give it plenty of character.
Its hollow back makes it an interesting decorative desk accessory, small catchall, or collectible display piece.
