Vintage French Face Powder Compact - C1925 For Sale

Every once in a while, a case emerges that somehow captures the spirit of face powder and vanity, This is such a case. With no markings as to its origin I believe it to be of French manufacture and have dated it to the mid 1920s. The cast image of the woman looking into her hand mirror to gauge the effects of her putting on face powder with her swan's down puff, leaps out at the viewer because it has been set so that her elbow and the mirror appear to be outside the circle she has been pictured in. It is, in my opinion, a masterpiece. This case is all about the image on the cover. It is a pity that the mirror has been compromised and also that the brass is emerging in some areas. I think that Anu collector would forgive these drawbacks. This is simply so collectible! The case is 4.8cm square and 1cm high. It weighs 45gm. The seller is downsizing his extensive collection, having spent the last 30 years collecting, researching and posting on his blog on collectingvintagecompacts.blogspot.com. Priced to sell. Please offer with confidence.
