- The bank is currently empty (no trapped coins).
- It shows standard surface wear, light scratches, and mild oxidation consistent with an item over 100 years old. There is a small dent visible on the metal body.
- Please review all photos carefully as they are part of the description and show the exact condition of the item you will receive.
A Little History: - The Automatic Recording Safe Company was famous in the early 1900s for producing these heavy, durable compartment banks. They were handed out by local savings banks (like the historic Greenwich Savings Bank, organized in 1833) to customers to encourage home savings. Once full, the customer would have to bring the bank back to the branch, where the teller had the master key to open it and deposit the funds!
A wonderful addition to any antique bank collection or a great gift for a collector of historic New York banking memorabilia.
