Welcome to Todd and Pepper\'s Treasures!
The absolute star of this listing is a stunning, highly reflective vintage Griswold No. 5 Large Block Logo (LBL) Self-Basting Cover (Pattern 465). Finding a No. 5 lid in this beautiful plated finish is a fantastic addition to any serious Griswold collection.
To make this deal even sweeter, we are including the matching Griswold No. 5 Large Block Logo skillet (Pattern 724) as an extra bonus so you have the complete, original set!
Item Specifics & Details:
The Main Event: Griswold No. 5 Plated Self-Basting Cover (Lid)
Maker: Griswold Manufacturing Co. (Erie, PA, U.S.A.)
Lid Pattern Number: 465
Patent Dates: Features the classic February 10, 1920, and September 22, 1925, patent dates cleanly cast on the underside.
Bonus Item: Griswold No. 5 LBL Plated Cast Iron Skillet (Pattern 724)
The lid is in excellent vintage condition with a brilliant, mirror-like exterior shine. There is some minor surface wear and faint scratches commensurate with its 1930s age, but the plating is striking and the underside lettering is incredibly crisp. There are no cracks or repairs.
The bonus skillet is a solid, functional piece that sits well. Because it was the workhorse of the set, the interior cooking surface shows the typical darkening, utensil marks, and finish loss common with vintage plated cast iron that has been used for everyday cooking over the decades. The exterior retains some of its original shine but has tarnish and wear. Please review all photos closely as they are part of the description!
