Vintage Hamilton Watch Co. Model 33 map measurer / opisometer / curvimeter.
Back stamped:
MODEL 33
HAMILTON WATCH CO.
U.S.A.
Made in Lancaster, Pennsylvania by Hamilton’s Allied Products Division, 1941–1957. First produced for military map work in WWII, later sold commercially.
How it works:
Roll the small wheel along a route on a map. The needle reads distance on the dual dial:
• Outer scale: inches (0–39)
• Inner scale: centimeters (0–99)
Also used to measure curved lines on drawings, charts, and plans.
The tracking wheel rolls freely and the needle moves as it traces.
Condition:
Used vintage instrument. Dial is complete and readable with expected age spotting. Chrome/nickel finish shows wear, scratches, and plating loss on the back (see photos). Tracking wheel is present. Overall length about 5 inches.
Includes the cloth drawstring pouch it came in, hand-marked “Hamilton Watch Co. Model 331.” The instrument itself is factory-stamped Model 33 on the back. No original cardboard box or printed instructions.
