Vintage Hand-painted Russian Fedoskino lacquer box, "Metelitsa" signed For Sale

Vintageand charming Russian lacquer box from the village of Fedoskino. Thepainting depicts a Russian winter scene with a Troika driving youngman rescuing a young maiden from the violent storm. The youngmaiden's water buckets lie empty in the snow. A Russian village is inthe background. It is signed in Cyrillic on the lower left with thevillage name “Fedoskino”, in the center with the title of thepainting “Metelitsa” (Snowstorm) and on the lower right with theartist's signature “Kasatkinya L. V.”.

Thebox measures approximately 6 3/4 inches long, 4 3/4 incheswide and 1 1/2 inches tall. The box is in excellent vintage conditionwith no chips or cracks. There is light scuffing along the bottom.
