Vintage Indian Rajasthan Phad Pabuji Folk Art Textile Scroll 64.5\" x 21\"Striking vintage Indian narrative textile measuring approximately 64.5 inches long × 21 inches wide, displayed between wooden hanging rods.The densely composed scene is filled with figures, musicians, horses, elephants, courtly figures, architectural settings and narrative episodes rendered in a vivid palette of pink, orange, green, yellow, black and natural cloth tones.The composition and iconography are strongly associated with the Phad folk-art tradition of Rajasthan, India, in which long cloth paintings illustrate epic narratives and the stories of regional folk heroes/deities. The imagery appears particularly consistent with the Pabuji narrative tradition, including mounted figures, black horses, elephants, musicians, court and procession scenes.
The exact narrative, artist/workshop and date have not been positively identified, and the Pabuji attribution is offered as a research-based identification rather than a documented provenance.The textile shows pigment/color applied to the woven cloth with visible surface texture and age-related cracking in areas. There is scattered staining/spotting and discoloration to the textile, fading and surface wear, areas of pigment cracking, and wear/loss along the pink borders/end sections. The reverse shows age-related staining, spotting and areas of pigment/color transfer or penetration.
