A wonderfully sculptural vintage Italian ceramic camel taper candle holder, finished in a rich glossy ochre/mustard glaze.
The seated pack camel is modeled with raised saddle bags, harness and facial details, with a candle cup incorporated into the top of the saddle/hump area for a standard taper candle.
The warm ochre glaze and expressive form give the piece wonderful decorative presence on a mantel, console, bookshelf or table.

CONDITION
Very good vintage condition with attractive overall presentation.
No chips or cracks have been observed.
There are natural glaze variations and a small firing/production mark on the base, consistent with the manufacturing process rather than later damage.

PROVENANCE
From my family’s multi-generational design collection. This piece belonged to my grandmother, who operated a design store in Montgomery, Alabama during the mid-20th century, and was subsequently preserved in my mother’s collection.
An unusual and highly decorative piece of vintage Italian figural ceramic, equally appealing displayed as a candle holder or as a sculptural object.
