Charming pair of vintage Italian pottery bud vases shaped like cornucopias, also known as horns of plenty. Each vase is individually hand painted with colorful pink, blue, yellow, green, and brown floral accents on a creamy ivory ground. Dimensional ceramic flowers and leaves decorate the curved base of each vase, giving the pair a wonderfully romantic, old-world Italian appearance.
The flared openings can hold a few small flowers or dried stems, but these are equally lovely displayed empty as decorative accent pieces. Their matching-but-not-identical hand-painted details add to their handmade character.
Both are marked “Italy” with a circled PV mark on the underside.
Approximate measurements:
• 4¾ inches tall
• Approximately 3 inches wide at the base
• Sold as a pair
Condition:
Good vintage decorative condition with age-related wear. The delicate applied flowers and leaves have scattered small chips, nicks, and areas of color or glaze loss, as shown closely in the photographs. There is additional light wear to the hand-painted decoration. No major breakage to the vase bodies was observed. Because these were handmade and hand painted, slight irregularities in shape, glaze, and decoration are part of their vintage character. Please review all photographs carefully, as they form an important part of the condition description.
