The vertical ribbed design resembles the Jane Ray pattern and is often referred to as such. Though technically the bowls are not Jane Ray, they look absolutely lovely with them.
The ribbed bowls were available in 3 sizes, this listing is for the 7.5" which is the largest of the 3. The bowls can be used as mixing or serving bowls. The smaller two, the 4.75" and the 5.5" came with lids and could also be used as refrigerator storage jars. The 4.75" is extremely rare.

Very good vintage condition - no chips or cracks - very light signs of use on the inside bottom.
Jadeite pieces may contain their own inherent swirls, straw and mold marks, slight color variations, ash and white specks, sand granules, pocks in the finish or other manufacturing imperfections due to low quality control at the time of manufacturing. That is part of the beauty of jadeite and what makes each piece unique.
People often wonder why Fire King jadeite is sometimes unmarked. Though typically Fire King pieces were marked it was also not uncommon for Fire King to produce unmarked items. Throughout different periods in time and on certain pieces in general foil labels were used instead of being marked with the Fire King logo. Also for brief periods while management decided on new marking designs the mold marks were stopped altogether. At that time they also switched to foil labels — which were eventually removed by consumers. Special orders and promotional pieces also were not commonly marked. So, now we find “unmarked Fire-King pieces” that are no less valuable or collectible than pieces with the Fire King logo mark.
