Striking set of four vintage Japanese-style embroidered cushion covers, each featuring a different colorful design worked against black velvet.The designs include Mount Fuji and traditional Japanese landscape scenes with pagodas, torii gate, pine trees, water and birds, together with one floral basket design.Each cover is approximately 17” x 17” and is finished with decorative gold braid and gold fringe. The reverse is in a salmon/coral-colored crepe fabric possibly silk and closes with small metal snap fasteners.Beautifully vibrant embroidery with wonderful mid-century decorative appeal — an unusual surviving set that looks fantastic displayed together.Vintage condition with age-related wear, There may be occasional loose threads and minor signs of storage/use on the back.
