Vintage Fine Linen Tablecloth & 12 Matching Napkins – 13-Piece Set – 84” x 72”
***** these were items from a high-end Washington DC area estate.
The family owned a jewelry store., I purchased the entire jewelry store which has been sold. The last remaining items are being listed.

Offered is a beautiful and substantial 13-piece vintage linen table service, consisting of one large tablecloth and 12 matching napkins.
The tablecloth measures approximately:
84 inches × 72 inches
7 feet × 6 feet
The set features elaborate white-on-white embroidery, cutwork, openwork, drawn-thread-style work and filet/net lace inserts. The central and corner motifs incorporate particularly fine decorative work, with coordinated designs carried through to the 12 matching napkins.
The napkins have decorative embroidered and openwork corner designs and coordinate with the tablecloth.

DETAILS
The textile appears to be a fine linen or linen-type fabric with extensive decorative whitework.
The workmanship includes:
* White-on-white embroidery
* Cutwork
* Openwork
* Filet/net-style lace inserts
* Drawn-thread-style decoration
* Decorative floral and geometric motifs
* Fine openwork border
The large tablecloth is an impressive size and would work particularly well on a large dining table, banquet table or formal dining room table.
AGE & ORIGIN
Probable origin: Madeira/Portugal or Madeira-style work on European linen
Likely period: approximately 1920s–1950s
Specific maker: not presently identifiable
The construction is consistent with traditional European fine whitework textiles. The design and techniques may be associated with Italian, Portuguese/Madeira or other European textile traditions, but I am not representing a specific country of origin as confirmed.

CONDITION
This is a vintage textile set and should be expected to have some signs of age and storage.
There are some areas of yellowing/discoloration and spotting, which can be seen in the photographs. I have intentionally not used aggressive bleach or stain treatments, because of the delicate embroidery, cutwork and openwork.
