History & Provenance:
This sign was acquired directly from an elderly serviceman who was stationed in Europe. Based on its construction, lettering, and vintage character, it originates from Europe/the UK, tied directly to the world-famous London Heathrow aviation hub.
Details & Condition:
Dimensions: Approximately 24 inches long by 6 inches tall.
Construction: Double-sided painted/reflective metal blade with factory mounting holes along the bottom edge. Shows a very slight, authentic curve/bow typical of retired directional street blades.
Finish & Patina: Both sides show wonderful, authentic age and heavy crazing/crackling in the finish.
Front vs. Back: One side displays a lighter, cleaner cream/white background. The reverse side has a distinctly darker tone with caked-on dirt and heavier weather patina. I did a light surface wipe, but have not attempted any deep cleaning; it should clean up further if the buyer chooses, though it has oxidized/aged into a darker tone than the other face.
