A stunning mid century modern enamel on copper studio art dish/ashtray, dating from the 1950s to 1970s. This piece reflects mid-century American and European studio enamelwork traditions, where artists frequently experimented with thick enamel buildup, separation glazes, and industrial motifs.
The shallow circular copper form features distinctive notched/slotted cutouts along the rim (traditionally designed as an ashtray or catchall dish). The center highlights a heavy, organic, thick \"lava\" or cratered textured glaze in mesmerizing shades of chartreuse and olive green. Similar in aesthetic to works from notable enamel artists and studios of the era such as Edward Winter, Bovano of Cheshire, and Sascha Brastoff, and will make a great statement in a mid century interior.
