This is a masterfully crafted Native American Northeastern Woodlands miniature \"fancy basket.\" The spherical main body and outer lid feature a highly intricate, uniform presentation of \"porcupine curls\" (strawberry work). The matching lid is adorned with eight hand-cut ash splint leaves radiating outward in a starburst pattern from a central, raised braided splint loop handle. The interior highlights a classic checkerboard structure built over a strong cross-spoke warp foundation. The base is tightly bound with sweetgrass. This basket has been dyed a rich purple using natural plant-based dyes. Dimensions: 1-3/4\" H x 2-1/8\" diameter. Condition: Pristine vintage condition.
