Beautiful, curated trio of vintage mid-century Japanese export porcelain cabinet plates distributed by Norleans Japan during the 1950s–1960s.
This unique set features identical scalloped, textured swirl blanks and heavy sponge-gilded gold rims, but each plate was individually hand-painted by a different recognized artisan from the same workshop pipeline. This makes the set a stunning showcase of mid-century ceramic craftsmanship.
The Artist Trio Includes:
1. H. Ishihara: Featuring a warm yellow and pink tea rose composition with golden background shading.
2. T. Itoh: Featuring a vibrant, multi-layered cluster of bright pink, magenta, and white roses.
3. M. Kurita: Featuring a bright yellow rose centerpiece with deeply layered green foliage and stylized brown backing leaves
Condition:
Excellent vintage condition. There are no chips, cracks, or hairline fractures. The delicate sponge-gold gilding remains incredibly bright and intact along the scalloped edges.
Most importantly, all three plates still feature their original red-and-gold foil Norleans Japan distributor labels completely intact on the reverse side. This indicates they were used exclusively as protective wall-hanging display pieces and were never subjected to harsh modern washing.
