About the Artist:Francisco Melchor is a Mexican folk artist and woodcarver from San MartÃn Tilcajete, Oaxaca, a Zapotec community internationally known for its tradition of hand-carved and brightly painted wooden figures. Melchor's signed carvings include fanciful and naturalistic animal subjects, executed in the Oaxacan woodcarving tradition commonly. His work has appeared in established folk-art collections and galleries across the United States, Mexico and beyond. Members of the Melchor family were among the Oaxacan carvers brought to worldwide attention through Shepard Barbash and Vicky Ragan's landmark 1991 Smithsonian Magazine feature on Oaxacan woodcarving.

In order to protect them during shipping we have removed these appendages (see photo) and placed them in a separate baggie.
