Up for sale is a vintage 1942 Lafayette L. Rittgers (L.L. Rittgers) chalkware referee figurine/statue.
Created by sculptor Lafayette J. Rittgers, these hand-painted chalkware (plaster) statues often feature comical or disgruntled sports figures. This example wears a grey suit with a black tie and black shoes.
This authentic piece bears the year 1942 and artists signature on the shoe “L.L. RITTGERS” along with a sticker on the bottom of the shoe.
Condition is good, the piece shows light wear with minor paint loss/chipping on the head and shoes.
