This beautiful 3-piece vintage Otagiri Mercantile Company (OMC) quail family is quintessential mid-century modern.
Made in Japan, these highly collectible stoneware figurines feature a stunning speckled, earth-toned brown and green glaze designed to mimic natural bird feathers. The Otagiri Mercantile Company was a premier importer of high-quality Japanese ceramics from the 1950s through the 1990s, renowned for collaborating with talented artists to create durable, beautifully crafted stoneware that remains deeply popular with collectors today.
All three pieces are in excellent vintage condition. There are no chips, cracks, flea bites, or repairs on any of the figurines. Both original identification markings are still intact on the bases, including the iconic gold foil OMC sunburst sticker and the blue and gold oval Made in Japan sticker.
The large bird measures approximately 4 1/4 inches long and stands 3 inches tall. The middle bird measures approximately 3 inches long and stands 2 1/4 inches tall. The small bird measures approximately 2 1/4 inches long and stands 1 3/4 inches tall.
