The vase features a classic bulbous teardrop body tapering up into a long elegant neck, all finished in a signature speckled oatmeal-tan matte glaze. The front is adorned with a meticulously hand-painted single white Dogwood flower blossom highlighted by soft brown accents and two green leaves, celebrating the native flora of the region. The underside of the smooth base is completely hand-signed in black script reading The Pigeon Forge Pottery Pigeon Forge Tenn..
Pigeon Forge Pottery was founded in 1946 by Douglas and Ruth Ferguson in a renovated tobacco barn near the Great Smoky Mountains. Operating until 2000, the studio became internationally famous for utilizing local red clays and native materials to craft hand-thrown and slip-cast art pottery. The Dogwood blossom pattern remains one of their most beloved and iconic mid-to-late 20th-century designs, highly sought after by collectors of Appalachian regional folk art.
This vase is in excellent vintage condition with no chips, cracks, structural hairlines, or color fading. Both the interior cavity and the hand-painted exterior graphics are exceptionally clean and well-preserved. It makes a wonderful, charming addition to a rustic farmhouse display, a mid-century shelf vignette, or a collection of vintage American studio pottery.
