For sale is a vintage 1962 RCA Victor \"The Globe Trotter\" transistor AM radio, model RJG42E Black (Serial Number 118538). This classic piece of mid-century portable technology is fully tested and working, picking up AM stations with strong volume!
It comes housed in its original factory genuine black leather protective carrying case, complete with the snap-down back panel and integrated top handle assembly. The bottom of the case is clearly debossed with \"Genuine Top Grain Leather - Japan 902.\" Made in the USA.
The interior chassis is very clean, showing the original component layout, internal loop antenna, and factory paper label specifying the model details.
Condition Details:
• Functional: Fully tested and working! It still powers on and tunes into AM stations with good volume despite the battery compartment wear.
• Battery Compartment: Shows visible surface rust and oxidation on the metal battery contact terminals and lower bracket from age (see detailed photos). The original white plastic battery sleeves are included. Despite the cosmetic rust, the contacts still successfully complete the circuit and power the unit.
• Battery Power Note: The original internal label specifies vintage \"RCA VS335\" batteries. The radio has been tested and successfully runs on modern standard \"C\" cell batteries, which match the diameter of the original vintage cells.
• Cosmetic: The interior circuit board and components are very clean. The exterior top-grain leather case is intact with solid stitching, good snaps, and standard vintage surface wear.
Requires four batteries (not included). A wonderful, complete find for any vintage electronics collector or retro mid-century enthusiast!
