Vintage RPPC Eloyes France Moselle River Flood Bridge Collapse Photo P. Sonrel.Postcard DetailsA vintage French real photo postcard showing the big bridge at Eloyes, in the Vosges of northeastern France, broken in two by the Moselle River in flood. The swollen river rages through the gap in the wooden trestle bridge, a lone tree stands in the current at left, and snow lies on the flooded fields beyond, with houses and electricity pylons in the distance. The back is handwritten in French, \"Ceci est le grand pont a Eloyes\" - \"This is the big bridge at Eloyes\" - and carries the photographer\'s credit stamp, \"Photo P. Sonrel,\" at the lower right. The card is a genuine photograph printed on postcard stock; the back is plain, with no printed divider or stamp box, as is common on French photo cards of the period. The card is undated and was never mailed; the caption names the place but not the year of the flood.Condition NotesThe photograph is sharp with strong detail. There is a small crease in the upper left corner, light corner and edge wear, and a couple of tiny dark specks in the water at the lower left. The card has a slight warp and does not lay perfectly flat. The back shows light toning and a few small spots, with a small pencil \"4\" at the top left corner.Shipping and Handling◆ Packaging: Shipped securely in a protective plastic sleeve with card stock support inside a white envelope.
